Full Coverage?
What is Full Coverage?
When talking to customers, I find myself using this term more than I should. The term full coverage is a broad term used in the insurance world when referring to auto insurance. One of the questions clients are usually asked when preparing a proposal is: Do you want liability only or full coverage on your vehicle? This means different thing to people.
There are many different line items that you should know about when looking at your policy:
Liability (Bodily Injury and Property Damage)
Uninsured (Bodily Injury and Property Damage)
Underinsured (Bodily Injury and Property Damage)
Medical Payments
*Different limits for all the above listed, I won't get into that at this time.
Then the Full Coverage line items:
Collision
Comprehensive
Rental and Towing
If Rental and towing are left off and a person has a claim, I have heard it many times, "I thought I had full coverage". So instead of using the term full coverage it is more appropriate to specify exactly what coverages you want your insurance policy to protect you for.
Take a look at your current policy and make sure you have the appropriate coverages, so you know at the time of a claim what perils you are (or are not) covered against.
